Planning to participate? Read the tournament rules and procedures carefully.
Teams
- Each team will consist of three (or four if a substitute is needed) players.
- All teams and their players must register with the organisers of the tournament.
- The tournament must be started with three players but can be finished with two.
- Organisers of the tournament have the right to disqualify players or teams if: there are unregistered players playing in the team, players are substituted in violation of the rules, the documents certifying the age of players have been falsified, or the players are behaving inappropriately.
- All games in the tournament must take place in accordance with the announced schedule. If any team is not ready to play at the allotted time it is deemed to have lost irrespective of the reason for absence.
Games
- Teams are allowed to warm up for 2-3 minutes prior to each game.
- The team with the first possession is determined by a coin toss.
- The team must start its possession with a pass.
- Upon scoring, the ball is given to the other team, which continues the game by passing the ball in from outside the 6.25 m line.
- Upon rebounding or stealing the ball, it must be returned outside the 6.25 m line. If this rule is violated, the ball is given to the opposing team.
- If the ball goes out of bounds or if the referee calls a foul (not at the time of a shot), the ball is inbounded from the side.
- If a player is hurt during the game, he must be immediately substituted for. If no substitute is available, the team can continue playing with two players.
- There are no “jump balls” (i.e. the ball is not contested by throwing it up in the air). In such situations, the ball is awarded to one or the other team alternately. The first “disputed” ball is awarded to the defending team.
- Player substitutions can be made each time the referee blows the whistle (or upon the referee’s permission).
- The referee keeps track of the score, the fouls committed and the final score of the game.
Results
- The game lasts 10 minutes or until one team scores 15 points.
- When 10 minutes expire, the winner is determined to be the team which scored more points. If the score is tied, every player will shoot one free throw each (each team shoots 3 free throws). If a winner still has not been determined, the teams will take turns shooting one free throw each until one of the teams misses.
- If the game lasts until one team scores 15 points, the winner must have a two-point margin of victory.
- All shots made from beyond the 6.25 m line are counted as 2 points. Shots made inside this line are counted as 1 point. This is determined by the referee.
Fouls
- If a foul is committed at the time of a shot, the fouled player is permitted to shoot 1 or 2 free throws.
- If a foul is committed on a player as he scores a basket, the shot is counted and the ball remains in the team’s possession. It is then inbounded from the side.
- If a technical foul is called, the team shoots 1 or 2 free throws and the ball remains in the team’s possession.
- Having received two technical fouls, a player is sent off the court until the end of the game.
- If a team commits 5 fouls, each additional foul is penalised with a free throw.
Note. In all other game situations not described in these rules, official FIBA rules will be applied.
